AARRGH! Why cant I draw a perfect straight line???

AARRGH! Why cant I draw a perfect straight line???
Ok, I AM using a ruler.. but my lines always seem a bit slanted or to the side.. I cant seem to get a perfect degree angle when I make a panel or box around a picture for example. I get so OCD when it comes to a perfect straight line.. I get frustrated and then quit on a good drawing. What other methods should I try to get a perfect straight line? Are there any other better tools besides a ruler to help me make a perfect and not slanted line? My printer is also retarted and cannot print a straight line either.. are we the same?? oo.. just kidding.
