Question
To Kill A Mockingbird or Of Mice And Men?
For my English coursework, I have the choice of studying To Kill A Mockingbird or Of Mice And Men. Which one should I chose, and why?
Answer
Both are great books, and neither is difficult to read. Of Mice and Men was the first book that really made me cry. To Kill a Mockingbird remains my alltime favorite to this day. Both books have clear themes and it would be easy to write a good essay about either one of them.brbrOf Mice and Men is definitely shorter, so if you read slowly or dont have too much time to finish, you may want to choose that one. Its technically a novella, as its too short to be considered a novel. Even though its so short, theres a lot packed into those few pages. Its very poignant and sad. It centers around two adult characters migrant workers running from the law and trying to make do with what they have. They are a team one of them is physically very strong but mentally challenged, the other is smaller but intelligent.brbrOn the other hand, To Kill a Mockingbird, although its longer, is still pretty easy to read. It centers around the lives of two children growing up in the south in the s. Their Dad is a lawyer who is defending a black man accused of raping a white woman. Also very poignant. Note Other than the Bible and Shakespeare, Mockingbird is the most reread work in the world. That so many people who read it want to read it again should tell you something.brbrThe best way I know to choose if none of these answers is helping you would be to read a few chapters of each book and see which one you like better.brbrGood luck with your project, and I hope you eventually read both books!
